Deut. 8:18:
“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”
Remember. Put God intentionally into the forefront of our minds. That doesn’t seem like a lot to ask….?
Gratitude makes it easy to remember that every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of heavenly lights. This amazing covenant God wants a relationship with us so much that He sent His Son to make it happen. Then all He wants is remembrance? Wow. Talk about Love with no strings attached!
It’s so interesting to me that He wants to provide for our every need. But not only that, He wants to abundantly bless us and prosper us. Yup. His vision of what we can accomplish and ours need to match up. He says in preceding verses that He is giving us a good land with honey, milk, wheat, barley, abundant bread, springs of water, iron rocks, copper. He says when you have built fine houses and settle in them to remember Him. Make mention of all the good He has done. Mention His good and perfect gifts.
Ya. That’s a good recipe for a thanksgiving dinner!
Remember.
Jesus, I thank you for my beautiful wife, my three awesome kids, their incredible spouses, our 6?! Grandkids, our houses, our cars, our incomes, our health, our influence, and our inheritance. You’re an amazing God, full of peace and love. Thank you for a prosperous future. Thank you for expanding our church family. Thank you for bringing restoration to the Valley. We choose to remember how generous and benevolent you are Father. Thank you for transforming our hearts, minds, and bodies. Have your way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
